Freedom

The word “freedom” can mean different things to many people. To me it mostly means doing whatever you want, whenever you want. Though, there are many different types of freedom like, “Freedom of Speech”. To me, personally, as a blogger, freedom of speech means being able to express myself with my opinions about things, and saying whatever I want to say; to just be myself and say anything I want about the world. Freedom of speech though, has some limits. Even though we are “free” to say anything we want, we should also be very careful about what comes out as we type. We should be careful not to say anything mean, because sometimes too much freedom of speech can be very offensive. Freedom of speech isn’t only writing of course. There are other ways you can express yourself, for example wearing something with some sort of meaning. In our U.S. history class, we had a big discussion on whether armbands should be allowed in schools, because the students are expressing themselves. Apparently they were allowed because students had the right of freedom of speech. The last freedom I’m going to tell you about is freedom of doing what you want. When I say “doing what you want,” I mean literally doing what you want. If you’re really mad at somebody for example, sometimes you just want to punch them! Well, everybody should have the right of freedom, but not too much freedom. If humans, mostly teenagers, were free enough to punch a person whenever they want, this world would be a disaster! Being free to do whatever you want is something I know a lot of people want. You always have to think about the consequences though. Sometimes being not-so-free is good for most of us. You never know what could go wrong.
